Medway Children's University was recently represented at the National Children's University conference held in Birmingham. We shared recent developments including the latest edition of our innovative webzine and details of our exciting Sim City project in which students are re-designing Medway using software specially adapted by computer games developer Electronic Arts to show recognisable local landmarks like Rochester castle and cathedral.

Design a Town

This module has students working to a development brief and considering issues such as transport, pollution, energy and sustainability. Students design their own piece of Medway and put their plans on ordnance survey maps.

Robotic Engineering

Walking With Robots had pupils building and testing a small robot under the supervision of academics.
Walking With Robots coincided with the launch of the Mars Express, the spacecraft carrying the lander, Beagle 2.
MCU supported a 3-day residential summer school for students aged 14-17 which was held at the University of Kent at Canterbury in August. Students worked in small teams to plan and control their own Mars surface exploration mission at the University’s ‘Mars Exploration Centre’.
