Day 2: by Mathew Mitford and Martin Smith

We arrived at the Foundry at around 3:35 straight from school. The first thing that we did was we had a briefing from webmaster Steve about what we had to cover today and what there was to do for the rest of the week.

We then had another talk from Dana about the Foundry and some Health and Safety was thrown in for good measure. She also told us a bit about what everyone does in the Foundry workplace.

As part of her Archaeological Detectives course Dana was getting today's group to finish their work off and look at it under the microscope. She also got them to prepare a display for the parents to see when they came to pick them up later on.

The children working with Damian were looking at wood and tools from the Stone Age onwards. With those tools he let the kids split part of a tree trunk and then Damian neatened up the wood, they then neatened up the corners and edges. With the finished product they made the new legs for the bench.

The big event at the end of the day was the puppet show performance for all the parents so the whole of their session was spent in rehearsal - some behind closed doors!

Rosemary Brown was also here today and is an education worker who goes to after school clubs to see who attends and reports on the sessions. The former headteacher has been an education worker for 16 years and enjoys her job a lot.
